Homeschool Days

Geek out together during Homeschool Days at Living Computers! Get hands-on with our exhibits, meet other families, and enjoy our world-famous vintage computer collection all in a day especially designed for homeschool students.

Each Homeschool Day at Living Computers features opportunities for guided tours and hands-on Lab activities as well as all-day access to our exhibits and galleries.

*Living Computers Membership rates do not apply for Homeschool Days. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an Adult throughout the event.

Labs and Tours

Registration for Homeschool Day Labs and Tours are filled on first-come, first-served basis (limit one Lab per student). Private Labs and Tours for multiple family groups or single co-ops can be arranged for groups of 8 or more students within in a limited age range.

Homeschool Day: Wednesday, April 25

Ozobot Smart City (60 minutes)

Beep beep! Move over---driverless cars are coming to our streets! Help us build a Smart City made just for them, complete with buildings, highways, and all the rules we'll need to keep both robots and humans safe on the roads. This is going to be a big project, so all hands on deck!

Cardboard Computers Lab (60 minutes)

Add some RAM, plug in that processor, and boot up that machine! Learn all about the parts of a computer in this 60-minute Lab with a fun, take-home component. All students leave with a custom cardboard computer of their very own—just don’t forget the hard drive!

LEGO Mindstorms Workshop (120 minutes)

Get friendly with our fleet of LEGO® EV3 Mindstorms – one of the most popular robotic platforms for budding engineers. Trick out your chassis, program a maze & see how many challenges you can get through!

Rock, Paper, Sensors! (60 minutes)

Create a rock-paper-scissors game with your friends in this 60-minute lab activity all about inputs/outputs, microcontrollers, and programming. Using an online, block-based coding interface, students will learn how to construct, test, and debug their scripts to take this classic hand game to the next level.

Mainframes, Minis, and Micros Tour (45 minutes)

This 45-minute guided tour gives students a comprehensive look through our one-of-a-kind collection of fully-operational vintage computers. From mainframes to supercomputers, minis to micros—experience the history of computing in all its whirring, beeping glory right at your fingertips. This is a great program for Intro to Computer Science and AP Computer Science students, and can be easily adjusted to fit course content.

For groups of 8 students or more, we have a self-guided admission of $8 per student. Groups must have required chaperone ratios (1 adult to 8 students) to qualify for pricing. Reserve your group here.
